The fire began about 3:30 pm on August 11, 2009. It burned brush and trees on the side of Leigh Hill next to the I-15 freeway between exits 57 and 59. The freeway and some roads nearby were closed for a time. Smoke from the fire could be seen as far away as Parowan.

Any information on what caused the fire?
I never did hear the cause. Does anyone else know?
sorry it took so long but i was on a wildland crew that fought this fire and it was caused by someones tow chain tht was dragging on the interstate. it started at 8 different locations along that strip
